What Is Your ‘Fire’?

I'm going to be pretty blunt with you, so those of a 'sensitive snowflake' nature, you may want to leave now. What does it take to get you fired up? I mean what does it really take to ignite the fire inside you and finally do something you keep telling yourself and others that you're going to do? It doesn't have to be about how you physically look or feel. Anything at all that you keep telling yourself you want to do, but never get round to actually accomplishing? What does it take to successfully reach your desired outcome? So

“King Kong Ain’t Got Nuthin’ On Me”

Last night I chilled out and watched 'Training Day', the awesome Denzil Washington film. I hadn't seen it for a while & I'd forgotten just how good Washington was in it. Unless you've been under a rock for years, you'll know the plot. Washington plays a dodgy narcotics cop that has upset the Russian Mob whilst on a trip to Vegas. He has to give them a $1-million before midnight to make things right, or he's a dead man. He ends up taking a clean-as-a-whistle rookie out with him for his first day or 'Training Day' whilst he's doing his dodgy stuff, getting the money together to

Let’s Get Ready To Rumbleeeeeee!

Morning! So, the biggest fight of the year is just a few hours away now and I'm looking forward to seeing how Kell Brook performs against one of the best lb-for-lb fighters in the world, GGG, Gennady Golovkin. Win, lose or draw, Brook has definitely earned some serious respect. Not only is GGG one of the most feared fighters in the world, meaning many have ducked out of fighting him, but Kell Brook is moving up 2 weight divisions to fight him! Serious respect! It's fair to say that Kell Brook has overcome any fear or doubt that he may of had before

Serious Case Of Road Rage

Couple of days ago I was stuck in some pretty crap traffic caused by a lorry carrying hay bails that had caught fire. Fortunately I keep a good selection of audiobooks and podcasts on me so I was able to do some mindset study as I listened to a book called 'The Code Of The Extraordinary Mind' (Awesome book btw). Whilst I sat in the traffic, I noticed people in cars around me getting frustrated and aggressive, particularly when I was the the slip road near to where the road closure had taken place. I watched as cars mounted grass

The Pitch Is Strong With This One

So as The Legend Ric Flair would say... "WOOOOOOOOOO!" Yesterdays email right? Serious fire contained within! I did warn you though! After yesterday i received a couple of responses which included "FUCK YOU!" (Always a favourite!) "How The Fuck Do You Know..?" (Again, a personal fave) "Thanks for making me feel like shit for the rest of the day" (A new one to be honest) "I'm done, please take me off your list" (Instructions on how to unsubscribe sent in reply. Did they use them? HINT: You're probably reading this now!) So those of you that are still here, congratulations. Either you identified with some of the things

Marshmallow Now Or A Bentley Later?

You can tell a lot about a person with just a simple marshmallow. How smart they're going to be, how successful they're going to be. Even how happy they're going to be. All with a simple Marshmallow. 2 Actually. More than 40 years ago, a psychologist called Walter Mischel explored the concept of self-control in children with a simple test, which came to be known as 'The Marshmallow Test'. Mischel and his colleagues presented children with a plate on which lay 1 marshmallow. The child was then told that the researcher had to leave the room for 15 minutes, but

Can You Send Me More Information…

As you know, my emails can be pretty fiery. They can stir up some serious emotion in people. Usually after a particularly 'intense' email, (like the one coming next week...) i quite often get a direct response. As soon as i see the 'RE:[insert subject line], i know what's coming. Either, I'm getting some abuse because evidently i'm touched a nerve, so much so, the person has felt strongly enough to vent directly at me. If only they carried that same impassioned fire into achieving what it is they really wanted, they wouldn't be directing expletives at me via email, but anyway. Option 2 is less 'colourful', but no less frustrating. "I'm really interested in your programme,

Kings of The Compound Pt.2 : Deadlift

There are very few exercises that stimulate multiple growth like the Deadlift can.   It is one of the main exercises used as a benchmark of overall strength, simple to execute and a big strength and mass builder when used correctly. Unfortunately, it is also one of the exercises I see performed incorrectly more times than any other in the gym. On a number of occasions I have even felt the need to intervene before a serious injury occurred. Below, i've split this King Strength Builder into 8 easy to highlight steps, that will have you well on your way to perfecting

Kings of The Compound Pt.1: Squat

Along with the deadlift, the squat is one of the best compound exercises available to build strength and mass in an athlete. Unfortunately, just like the deadlift, it is an exercise performed incorrectly by so many gym goers. I have seen personal trainers and fitness instructors not only perform the squat incorrectly, but also teach incorrect form to clients and gym members. This is both frustrating and dangerous. The squat engages the core in much the same way as the deadlift does. The biomechanics of the body make the squat a very natural movement to perform. In fact many of

Sand Storm: Beginners Guide To Training With Sandbags

Sandbags. Something that most people associate with flooding, particularly here in the UK. However, more and more people are using sandbags as an alternative to traditional dumbbells and barbells for a great full body functional workout. Throwing around a moderately weighted sandbag is about as old school as it gets and is a great way to hit all the muscles you'd typically train with cable stations and the aforementioned free weights, plus others that you wouldn't usually hit. Despite its recent resurgence in popularity, sandbags have been around as a training tool for hundreds of years, especially wrestlers and combat
